Runners & sessions

Runners answers one question, live: what is moving right now? It’s the page day traders keep open — a ranked, self-updating list of the market’s gainers and losers, refreshed every few seconds.

Sessions: the market’s day has four parts

One trading day (US Eastern Time)Pre-market4:00 – 9:30 AMRegular hours9:30 AM – 4:00 PMAfter-hours4:00 – 8:00 PMClosed8:00 PM – 4:00 AMBreakoutScan tracks movers separately in each session — a stock “running” at 5 AM shows in Pre-market, not lost in yesterday’s list.
The US trading day. Each session gets its own runners list, so a 5 AM mover is ranked against other pre-market movers — not lost in yesterday’s regular-hours list.

Choose the session and direction in the sidebar — Pre-market gainers, Regular losers, and so on. Outside a session’s hours its list freezes on the final values, clearly marked, so you can still review what ran at 7 AM after the open.

Reading a row

  • % changehow far the price has moved this session. The list ranks by this.
  • Volume / rel-volhow many shares have traded, and how that compares to the stock’s normal — the “×” number. High rel-vol separates a real crowd from a rounding error.
  • Floathow many shares are actually available to trade. Small floats move violently — both directions.
